Today it was 70 degrees out so we went out to check on our letterbox
(Konza letterbox) which was planted in mid-November. Imagine our
surprise when we found that the stones which had hidden it now hid, in
its place, a geocache.
Does anyone know what became of our letterbox?
Has anyone else had an experience like this? Are we in some kind of
competition with the geocachers?

I don't see why you should dislike cachers. We geocache because it gives us
more to search for in an area without many boxes. It is very probable that
the box was gone before the cacher got there. People of both sorts can
appreciate a good spot. Have you looked the cache up and contacted the
owner?

Well, I don't hate geocachers ... especially since I enjoy that hobby too. BUT some die-hard geocachers in the St. Louis area have been very difficult to get along with too. I suspect a few of the "meaner" ones have even sabotaged my kids boxes.
Others though are very nice and I enjoy running into them along the trail occasionally.
While in South Dakota we hunted for some geocaches hid by Team Family Affair that were awesome AND the members of the team were extremely helpful when one of our letterboxes went under the weather. Their Presidentail View Cache near Mount Rushmore is well worth the search!
